Bicentennial Banners
04Pierre_Clerk PIERRE CLERK

Koraluk

The design of Clerk’s banner is directly related to ideas he uses in his paintings, prints, and tapestries.  Since the mid-59’s, when his work was first seen in the “New Talent” show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Clerk’s paintings have been shown and collected, not only in the U.S., but throughout Europe.  In New York, his work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.  Many major American corporations, including IBM, RCA, Mobil Oil, Chase Manhattan, Gulf and Western, and others also own clerk’s paintings and tapestries.

Clerk was born in Atlanta, Georgia and studied at Loyola College and McGill University and at the Museum of Fine Art in Montreal.
