11Karen_Katz KAREN KATZ
George Washington

Karen Katz comes to banner making with the expertise of a fabric designer who has worked primarily with quilts, but also with costume and macramé. Her banner portrait of George Washington reflects her interest in the unusual medium of fabric portraiture. Her work has been seen in such exhibitions as the “Crafts as Art” show at the Yale Art Gallery and a show of “Clothing to Be Seen” (costumes designed by artists) held at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in 1975.

Karen Katz was born in 1947; she studied at the Art Students League, the Tyler School of Art and the Yale School of Art and Architecture.
